Prevent and Delay Diabetes
Module Description
This module aims to empower health care professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify, prevent, and delay the progression from prediabetes to diabetes. Participants will explore risk factors influencing this progression and gain insights into diverse techniques for lifestyle modifications and medication options aimed at preventing and postponing the onset of diabetes. 
Learning Objectives
At the end of this module, participants will be able to: 
  • Identify the risk of prediabetes progressing to diabetes and the factors that influence this progression. 
  • Recognize diverse techniques and approaches for preventing and delaying the onset of diabetes by incorporating lifestyle modifications. 
  • Recognize approaches to prevent and delay the onset of diabetes using various medication options. 
  • Recall person-centered care goals for individuals at high risk for the progression of diabetes.
Module Faculty

Kevin Miller, DO 

Kevin Miller, DO, earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, MO, in 1996. He moved to the Pacific Northwest after completing a residency at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital in Ohio. A board-certified family practitioner, he is the co-founder of Diabetes Nation, a nonprofit organization, and Diabetes and Obesity Care in Bend, OR, where he practices with his wife, Eden Miller, DO.  

An experienced clinician and leader, Dr. Miller's involvement has included state-level service as a board member and president of Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of Oregon, Oregon’s rural health coordinating council member, and a founding member of the Bryan Institute of Physician Leadership. He has published quality improvement research in diabetes working with his team at Diabetes Nation. He is currently an American Osteopathic Association health policy fellow.
