PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Innovations and Latest Treatments in Type 1 Diabetes was developed to enhance diabetes care with evidence-based guidelines from the ADA’s Standards of Care in Diabetes. This six-module series, plus a webinar, will equip you with the latest professional tools to apply to your clinical practice.
PROGRAM LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Recall diabetes guidelines for clinical care of individuals with type 1 diabetes.
Identify timely and appropriate behavioral, lifestyle, and medication therapies for people with diabetes.
Select strategies that ensure access to diabetes care as part of creating a personalized diabetes care plan.
Recognize approaches that support the quality and quantity of constituent engagement, including the use of interactive diabetes technology.
Identify approaches for encouraging patient participation in clinical trials for type 1 diabetes.
MODULE 1
Screening and Prevention
This module addresses best practices for screening for type 1 diabetes as well as therapies that can delay, and potentially, prevent onset of the disease.
MODULE 2
Genetics, Diagnosis, and Disease Progress
This module covers the genetics, stages and progression of T1D as well as the differences between type one and type two diabetes.
MODULE 3
Clinical Management
This module covers clinical treatment of type 1 diabetes, including insulin and adjunct therapies, psychosocial support, and diabetes self-management education and support.
MODULE 4
Type 1 Diabetes Technologies
This module discusses best practices and available options for technologies used to assist in diabetes management.
MODULE 5
Monitoring and Preventing Complications
This module addresses the most common and challenging complications people with T1D face and provides strategies to prevent complications from developing.
MODULE 6
Therapy Access and Utilization
This module addresses gaps in care that impact people living with T1D, including challenges due to affordability and bias.
