Focus on Diabetes: Communicating the Risks of Vision Loss and Effective Prevention Strategies
This module, consisting of three lessons, begins by instructing healthcare providers on the use of person-first, strengths-based language to motivate patients to undergo diabetic retinopathy screenings. The second lesson addresses the screening and treatment of diabetic retinopathy, along with the socioeconomic obstacles that limit access to these services. The final lesson emphasizes community engagement strategies, providing healthcare providers with the tools to work alongside communities in overcoming social determinants of health (SDOH) to improve screening access and facilitate early intervention.
