Making Diabetes Technology Work

OVERVIEW

The American Diabetes Association's®️ Making Diabetes Technology Work CE program is designed to help the diabetes care team on the front lines of primary care master the latest evidence-based recommendations for the implementation and management of cutting-edge diabetes technology. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Improve diabetes technology implementation and utilization for people living with diabetes using an individualized approach to improve patient outcomes.
  • Apply best practices to streamline the integration of diabetes technology into the clinical workflow.
  • Identify and manage information overload, and device burnout among patients and providers.
  • Apply a patient-centered approach in the use of diabetes technology in patient care with a focus on reducing health care disparities.
  • Identify barriers that may limit the acceptance or utilization of diabetes technology including challenges faced by minorities living with diabetes.
  • Identify solutions to overcome barriers impacting Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities.

Investigate Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Technology, including Implantable and wearable devices. Learn how to set up a CGM-friendly clinical practice to maximize CGM use and improve patient outcomes.

Tech Data

Learn how to gather and analyze data. Explore using CGM and Ambulatory Glucose Profile data to optimize care. Discover how to evaluate and integrate the data from insulin delivery systems in today’s digital world.

DOMAIN 4

Hypoglycemia

Gain an understanding of the burden of hypoglycemia and how to recognize individuals at high risk for this acute complication of diabetes. Learn about hypoglycemia management and prevention in both the outpatient and inpatient setting.

Overcoming Barriers

Explore the challenges involved in implementing diabetes technology. Learn how to identify those at risk of and mitigate inequities in diabetes care, as well as the impacts of social determinants on diabetes outcomes.
