Date: Tuesday, April 23Time: 3:00-4:00 PM, ESTDescription:Join the ADA and the Nutritional Sciences and Metabolism Interest Group (NSMIG) on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 3pm (ET) for a one-hour panel discussion and question-and-answer session related to the ‘hot topic’ of effects of the ketogenic (keto) diet in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Joining the panel discussion will be experts in the area: Andrew Koutnik, PhD, research scientist at the Sansum Diabetes Research Institute, will share the evidence and his own experience and research related to the impacts of the keto diet for type 1 diabetes. Nia S. Mitchell, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Medicine and Medical Weight Management Specialist at Duke University, will share the evidence and her clinical experience related to the effects of the keto diet for type 2 diabetes. Elisabetta Politi, CDCES, MPH, RD is a Certified Diabetes Educator and Dietitian who sees patients at the Duke Lifestyle and Weight Management Center and will share her experiences with and tips for counseling patients on the keto diet.
