Evidence-Based Eating Patterns for Diabetes and Cardiometabolic Health

     

OVERVIEW

This module is designed to explore evidence-based nutrition strategies to support glycemic management and reduce cardiovascular risk in people living with diabetes. Participants will examine the strengths and limitations of common eating patterns and apply person-centered nutrition recommendations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Identify evidence-based dietary approaches associated with improved glycemic management and cardiovascular risk factors, including evidence regarding outcomes among people from diverse backgrounds
  • Select evidence-based nutrition recommendations that align with person-specific factors, including cultural food traditions, dietary restrictions, health literacy, food access, and lived experience 
  • Critically compare common eating patterns by evaluating macronutrient composition, food sources, and alignment with individual preferences

She is a registered and licensed dietitian nutritionist, certified diabetes care and education specialist, and National Academy of Sports Medicine women's fitness specialist certified personal trainer. She is a national media spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, owner and founder of  360Girls&Women®, B.E.A.T.Gestational Diabetes ®, and co-founder of Cultured Health, a digital healthcare app.
