PROGRAM

Beyond the Basics: Unraveling Challenging Type 2 Diabetes Cases

OVERVIEW

Despite the availability of effective medical interventions and therapies for type 2 diabetes, their utilization remains limited. This program aims to increase competency in the treatment of type 2 diabetes and its complications and improve the care of individuals living with type 2 diabetes through four case studies.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Recall when to intensify therapy for people with type 2 diabetes.
  • Recognize steps in treatment plans based on guideline-directed therapy to support diverse patient populations in achieving target outcomes.
  • Identify treatment options to reduce morbidity and mortality in people with type 2 diabetes.
  • Review the use of glucose-lowering medication for microvascular and macrovascular risk reduction.

  • Insights into agent-specific considerations as they relate to diabetes’ clinical course among currently available SGLT-2 inhibitors, GLP-1 receptor agonists, dual GIP-GLP-1 receptor agonists, and other medications.
  • Identify strategies to remove barriers to guideline-directed therapy.
