Cost-Conscious Quality Diabetes Care - Case Based Discussion | Recording
Overview

Description:

This webinar will present exemplary cases where the cost could be reduced while maintaining high quality diabetes care.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Rationalize how basal insulin along with GLP-1RA can achieve glycemic goals in most patients with type 2 diabetes
  2. Evaluate how de-intensifying insulin therapy from multiple injections to basal insulin may be considered when adding GLP-1RA
  3. Explain how basal insulin alone may be appropriate in some cases with relaxed HbA1c goals
  4. Assess the use of generic insulins to achieve glycemic control at a reduced cost among patients with inadequately controlled glycemia due to inability to afford.
  5. Develop a working knowledge of the high-cost drugs that are covered by local health insurance carriers and how to get them approved at the lowest available price to the patient
  6. Discuss the importance of Involving clinical pharmacists in the decision-making process to achieve cost-conscious high quality clinical care.
