OVERVIEW

Metabolic bariatric surgery is a highly effective treatment for obesity, but long-term success depends on comprehensive post-surgical care. This interactive workshop will explore strategies to optimize outcomes and reduce complications. Participants will gain practical insights into physiological changes, nutritional and behavioral considerations, and multidisciplinary approaches to support sustained weight management.

• Describe the key physiological and metabolic changes following metabolic bariatric procedures.
• Recognize common post-surgical complications and interventions to mitigate adverse outcomes.
• Identify nutritional, behavioral, and pharmacologic factors that influence post-surgical weight maintenance
• Develop a multidisciplinary follow-up plan that integrates dietary counseling, physical activity, and psychosocial support.
• Apply evidence-based strategies to optimize long-term patient outcomes after bariatric surgery.
