Back to School: Bringing Diabetes Devices into the Classroom

     

OVERVIEW

In this webinar, panelists will provide a broad overview of the use of diabetes devices in schools with special attention to continuous glucose monitors. In addition to reviewing the current literature on different perspectives for device use in school, the panel will review the legal framework to support device use in school and ongoing advocacy efforts at the ADA. Information is geared to help diabetes health care professionals counsel patients and families and communicate with schools on device use in that setting.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Understand how state and federal laws apply to diabetes device use in school.
  2. Describe the advantages and challenges to device use in school for students and school staff.
  3. Recognize important points to counseling families and school staff about device use in school.
