ADA Vaccine Awareness Initiative for DSMES Programs

     

OVERVIEW

This webinar offers specialized training for diabetes care and education specialist, focusing on strategies to address vaccine hesitancy and encourage vaccination among people with diabetes, in alignment with ADA’s Standards of Care. It introduces ADA’s newest Vaccine Toolkit, featuring an educational story poster titled “My Path to Protection: Vaccines,” a facilitator guide for group sessions, and additional resources for individual education, along with several helpful handouts and infographics.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this training, participants should be able to:

  • Recall why immunizations are especially important for people with diabetes.
  • Explain what vaccination hesitancy is and discuss ADA Vaccination Uptake Survey results
  • Explain The Path to Protection: Vaccine Toolkit and demonstrate its use with both groups and individuals.
  • Demonstrate how to implement The Path to Protection: Vaccine Toolkit into your DSMES program
