This program equips primary care providers and other members of the diabetes care team with the knowledge and skills to leverage diabetes technologies, specifically continuous glucose monitoring, to guide and enhance their nutrition recommendations.

Supporting Healthy Eating Habits through Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs)

Course Description: This asynchronous online education program equips primary care providers with the knowledge and skills to leverage diabetes technologies, specifically CGM, to guide and enhance their nutrition recommendations. The aim is to support healthy eating habits among individuals managing diabetes through personalized, data-driven decision-making. This program includes interactive modules with several patient videos and allows learners to practice treating people with diabetes. This program will allow learners to:

  • Educate health care professionals (HCPs) on how to identify optimal food choices that support overall heath goals/targets and how to communicate this information with patients
  • Bring ADA’s scientific expertise to guide HCP recommendations about everyday decision-making using diabetes technologies to guide nutrition recommendations
  • Integrate behavioral health best practices into clinical scenarios using collaborative care models, team-based approaches, and effective communication strategies.
  • Identify evidence-based eating patterns that can be used in the management of both prediabetes and type 2 diabetes and that also provides cardiovascular benefits.

Target Audience:  This program is intended for PCPs including primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and other members of the primary care team who manage patients with diabetes.

CE Credit: This program includes 5 CE modules. The CE credit value of the program will be updated as modules are released. Participants have until December 31, 2025 to complete the modules at their own pace.
