In this ADA member-exclusive recorded webinar, Fear of Hypoglycemia – Is It So Bad?, an expert panel will explore the complex issue of fear of hypoglycemia (FOH) across different types of diabetes and life stages. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of FOH as both a pathological concern and a potential protective factor, and how it impacts diabetes management. The session will also highlight strategies for supporting patients and families through behavioral interventions, diabetes education, and tailored treatment approaches. The panel will share five actionable tips for supporting professionals and people with diabetes, as well as host a live Q&A session at the end of the webinar.  

The session is part of the Hands On: Tips to Improve Diabetes Care webinar series, which is available exclusively to ADA professional members and presented by the ADA’s Behavioral Medicine & Psychology, Diabetes in Primary Care, Exercise Physiology, and Diabetes Technology Interest Groups. The series is supported by funding from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. 

• Recognize the prevalence, psychological impact, and clinical signs of fear of hypoglycemia (FOH), including its adaptive and maladaptive forms.
• Identify effective strategies to assess and address FOH in primary care settings, including behavioral and psychological interventions.
• Evaluate the role of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and hybrid closed loop (HCL) systems in mitigating hypoglycemia and supporting FOH management in contemporary diabetes care.
