Diabetes is Primary: Advanced Cardiovascular Disease Risk Management
This advanced continuing education program equips clinicians with the knowledge and clinical decision-making skills needed to assess, stratify, and manage cardiovascular risk in complex, real-world presentations.
Overview

This advanced continuing education program equips clinicians with the knowledge and clinical decision-making skills needed to assess, stratify, and manage cardiovascular risk in complex, real-world presentations.

Grounded in the American Diabetes Association’s Standards of Care in Diabetes, this program emphasizes the interconnected nature of cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic disease. Learners will apply guideline-directed approaches to optimize blood pressure, lipid, and glycemic management while incorporating therapies with proven cardiovascular and renal benefit, including GLP-1 receptor agonists and SGLT2 inhibitors.

Learning Objectives

Across a series of case-based, interactive modules, participants will:

  • Assess cardiometabolic risk using integrated clinical frameworks and guideline-based algorithms
  • Individualize treatment goals and therapeutic strategies in individuals living with diabetes with coexisting ASCVD, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease
  • Apply evidence-based pharmacologic approaches, including appropriate sequencing and combination therapy
  • Integrate lifestyle, nutrition, and behavioral strategies into comprehensive cardiovascular risk reduction plans
  • Navigate real-world barriers to implementation, including self-management, access to care, and care coordination
